Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting is the first event of the school year. Members are informed of the different kinds of events that will be planned throughout the year.

Speed-Dating Mentorship Program

The mentorship program introduces you to graduate students in the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. As a mentee, you will have opportunities to ask questions about specific areas of research and gain advice for career development. This is a great way to learn what graduate student life is like and if it's the right path for you. We kick off the program with a "speed-dating" event where mentors and mentees get a few minutes to talk with each other one-on-one so each can find a suitable match.

Early November

Professor Talk

Students will get the chance to hear about the cutting-edge research in bioengineering directly from professors. Professor Milica Radisic and Dr. Kiruba Krishnaswamy will speak passionately about tissue engineering and food engineering, respectively. The attendees will be able to talk with the professors afterwards and ask any questions they might have about research, graduate studies, and the field of bioengineering.

Summer Research Talk

Interested in doing research this summer, but not sure how to get started? Unsuccessful in finding research positions in the past? BESt - Bioengineering Student Association is presenting a summer research talk with special guest Professor Penney Gilbert ! She will be presenting tips and tricks to landing your dream summer research position.

Mid November

Bioengineering Competition Info Session

Gain information on BESt's Bioengineering Competition to be held in February. Start building a team of peers to tackle a bioengineering problem within the field.

BioEngineering Competition

The annual BESt Design Competition is a fun way to explore issues in the current bioengineering industry. You will be given a real-life problem that you can solve using your engineering design skills. You will be competing against other teams in groups of four. All disciplines and years are welcome, and there will be prizes for the top teams!
